Beast
Eyes wavering
Gazes stirred
Inside of these walls, I hear numb sounds beating from the outside
A distant heartbeat subdued behind linoleum
The ceiling tiles set me free
The fan blades wobble to distract what once was
You have made me
Forget
Her
You are all I see
And joy
Joy
What seemed to always evade me
Behind, my ears bleeding
I see
The outside
What things would be like if I could say what I mean
How I would change if you knew these untruths
Lying to forget
You made me leave woes behind
I dedicate this
To you
You who have kept me beaming through dark knights
Who I never want to say “goodnight” to
You who I am
So fearful of
Because to tell you
Is to break you
To really
Want
What is best
Is truly to want what I know I can never have
Fists pounding
Rhythmic rage against hollow crevices
Tight cracks squeal against the torment of the impossible
Will it ever be?
Even with
This?
Can we...
Learn to look past something
Something that has been a lie before
And has been revealed
Something so significant
It defines us
